Nomination letters should be 200-300 words, with no more than five letters of support per nomination.

Support for MIT’s mission
Provide descriptions and examples that relate the nominee’s work to the mission of the Institute or DLCI.
Justify with examples
Provide accurate and persuasive examples of how the nominee meets the criteria.
Use several sources
Include either a single letter with examples collected from multiple people, or multiple letters.
Recommendations
Successful nominations provide enough specificity and context for the selection committee to understand the nominee’s work.
Write clearly
It’s OK to use bullet points as well as paragraphs. Avoid jargon.
Give multiple examples
Show a pattern of going above and beyond the job’s daily responsibilities.
Include measurable results
Such as more timely responses to clients or impact on staff morale.
Provide context
Explain the nominee’s general responsibilities and what’s noteworthy about their work.
Be specific
Describe how the nominee took steps beyond the requirements of their job.
Show impact
Convey how the nominee’s achievement benefits their DLCI and the Institute.
